Grey Ghost Precision GGP Specter Light 5.56 and GGP Specter Heavy .308 Tactical AR Rifle/Carbines with Ambi Controls and Premium AR Components and Accessories (Video!)

Grey Ghost Precision (GGP), a division of Grey Ghost Gear (GGG) is making some nice 5.56mm NATO (5.56x45mm NATO)/.223 Rem. and 7.62mm NATO (7.62x51mm NATO)/.308 Rem. direct-gas-impingement (DGI) tactical AR rifle/carbines called the GGP Specter Light 5.56 and GGP Specter Heavy .308, respectively. Both come with ambi (ambidextrous) controls and premium components and accessories. DefenseReview (DR) got to view and handle the new guns earlier this year at SHOT Show 2015. The Specter Light features a KeyMod or M-LOK tactical handguard/rail system/forend rail tube, GGP 7075-T651 billet upper receivers, GGP 7075-T651 billet (ambi) lower receivers, the Slide Lock Ambi Charging Handle, and the 4.5-lb trigger made from 8620 alloy steel that’s been case-hardened to 60Rc, with a core hardness of 38Rc. The ambi lower includes an ambi BCG (Bolt Carrier Group) release button and a Battle Arms Development BAD-CASS ambi safety/selector switch, which are nice touches.

The Grey Ghost Precision Specter Light 5.56 also featured a Gemtech Jake Brake muzzle brake/compensator and MagPul Industries furniture (ACS-L Collapsible AR-15 Carbine Synthetic Stock (buttstock) and MOE Grip pistol grip).

The GGP Specter Heavy .308 tactical AR battle rifle/carbine was particularly interesting to DR, since it sported an Orion Design Group (ODG) combat camouflage pattern that was well done, and gave the gone a nice visual aesthetic. Even the mag (magazine) and the tactical rifle scope sported the pattern. Defense Review’s written about ODG combat camo briefly in the past, including the first time we saw it applied to tactical AR’s, and we may do some more on it in the future, since we have some photos laying around of some combat clothing done in one of ODG’s patterns that we never published.

Kevin Reagan (great last name) was kind enough to take us quickly through the guns at the Grey Ghost Precision booth, and we really appreciated it. He also showed us a couple of GGP complete upper receivers, one of which was a suppressed SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) upper.

By the way, Grey Ghost Precision also offers the GGP Specter Dark .300 Blackout tactical AR carbine for 300BLK fans.
