While we’re on the subject of the latest and greatest Midwest Industries (MI) tactical firearms accessories shown at SHOT Show 2017, we should also disuss the new MI Gen-3 AK (AK-47/AKM) side-rail, AR/high-caliber triple-lever , and EXTREMELY COOL Gen-2 Kel-Tec M-LOK QA/QD (Quick Attach/Quick-Detach) rifle/carbine/SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) optic/scope mounts that they showed DefenseReview (DR). The MI mounts looked really good, and their Gen-2 Kel-Tec Sub-2000 M-LOK optic mount looked rather ingeniously designed (watch the video below to see).
Let’s start with the Midwest Industries MI-AKSM MI AK Side Railed Scope MountGen-3 AK Side-Rail Optic/Scope Mount, which incorporates screws that “gives us the ability to shift the rail slightly side-to-side, so you can get a perfect center line on your AK,” when mounting it to the AK receiver rail interface, according to MI rep Pete Bratz. “The other thing that does, is it allows us to take this top off of here–we use the same base with all of them–and you can mount using optic-specific covers this way,” says Bratz. You can use the new MI Gen-3 AK optic/scope mount to mount an Aimpoint Micro T-1/T-2, Trijicon MRO, mini-ACOG’s, standard ACOG’s, 30mm Aimpoint-type ring, a shorter MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” rail mount, and potentially other things in the future.
The Midwest Industries MI Gen-3 AR/high-caliber triple-lever scope mount designed for .338 Lapua Magnum (.338LM) and .50 BMG high-caliber rifles. It gives you an extra QA/QD lever for a stronger, more secure scope mount.
The pièce de résistance, however, is the extremely cool, ingeniously-designed Midwest Industries MI Gen2 Kel-Tec Sub-2000 T1/T2 Optic Mount, a QA/QD M-LOK pivoting/swiveling optic mount that really blew DR away. The most salient feature to ou “ingenious” contention” is the optic mount’s swiveling/pivoting aspect, which the video below shows. It’s “real streamlined”, and tucks right in when the gun is folded. It just looks perfectly designed, and is the best Kel-Tec Sub-2000 optic mount DR’s ever seen. You really have to watch the video to see what we mean. It’s pretty fantastic.
