Torrey Pines Logic (TPL) recently introduced some of the coolest little combat optics DefenseReview (DR) has seen in awhile at NDIA SOFIC 2015 (Special Operations Forces Industry Conference 2015). They’re all part of the TPL T10 Mini Thermal Imager family, and include the T10-M (50° FOV, 30Hz video), T10-N (25° FOV, 9Hz video), and T10-S (50° FOV, 9Hz video). TPL’s Russell Purcell took DR through the various T10 models at their booth, and we came away pretty impressed with them. The T10 thermal/IR (Infrared) combat optics utilize the “latest FLIR lepton core” and your standard MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” rail mount system (including QA/QD mounts as options), just like an Aimpoint Micro-T1 or EOTech 550 Series sight, and it’s DR’s understanding at present that they can be used in tandem with those optics.
The T10 Mini Thermal Imager combat optics let the opertor/shooter choose/scroll quickly between white-hot, black-hot, green, and color imaging, depending on preference. In choosing which T10 model is best for their needs, the end-user just has to decide whether or not he wants 2X magnification and a 25-degree field of view or no magnification with a 50-degree field of view, and which refresh rate he/she needs (9Hz or 30Hz), in order to decide which TPL T10 mini thermal/IR combat optic/weapon sight to purchase. It’s Defense Review’s present understanding that the MSRP on all T10 models is approximately $700.00 USD.
Frankly, the TPL T10 Mini Thermal Imagers’ size, ultra-light weight, thermal/IR capability, visual selection (white-hot, black-hot, green or color) capability, and releatively low cost all combine to make it a potential game changer for combat/tactical shooting scenarios in low-light/no-light situations. DR therefore sees it as potentially a very important product, moving forward.
The Torrey Pines Logic TPL T10-M, T10-N and T10-S Mini Thermal Imager sights are already in production and available for purchase from distributors and dealers.
