DefenseReview (DR) writer/contributor Jeff Gurwitch was kind enough to run the VooDoo Innovations VDI Enforcer Glock 17 (G17) Slide and VDI NON-THREADED BARREL – GLOCK 17 at the range and shoot a short video for us, which you can see below. He also emailed us some range feedback on Enforcer G17 slide, as well as some photos of it and the VDI G17 non-threaded barrel. The first email went as follows (slightly edited for readability):
“Just got the VDI [Enforcer] slide a week ago. It’s the Enforcer model (G17 length) red dot capable with XS Sight systems red dot back-up-height sights. My model is the standard not threaded barrel.
The slide came ready to shoot with all internal parts, including three recoil springs Green standard, Yellow 10% less, Red extra-power, and a spacer adaptor for the Gen 4 G17 frame. Since I don’t have a red dot for it yet, I took off the XS sights and put on some standard glock sights, for now.
I’ve only shot about 50 rounds so far on my Gen 4 Glock 34 frame. Ran with no issues out of the box, and just as accurate so far as any factory Glock. I think its a very cool looking slide, and the extra and larger serrations are a plus.
The slide coming last week was perfect timing, since I’ll be running a Glock 17 at work. So, I have the correct slide to practice with now.”
Jeff subsequently sent DR the following message to update us on the VDI Enforce Glock 17 slide’s range performance:
“The photos I’m sending include pics of VDI Enforcer on both a Gen 4 and Gen 3 [Glock 17] receiver. I’m also including pics of how it originally came with XS Sight Systems big dot suppressor height sights. Some of the pics show it with the stock Glock crappy sights and the Trijicon HD Night Sights.
There are also a few pics of the Grip Force Adapter [modular extended beavertail grip tang], including one of it on an issued Glock 19 [G19] if you want to do a separate piece on it.
Summary of the VDI Slide:
I’ve had it since June, and have put well over 2,000rds through it. About 70% was military 9mm [ammo]. Some was store bought: Perfecta and Winchester White Box. So far, not a single issue or jam at all. Not only do the milled cuts in the slide look awesome and add a positive grip, they also take some weight off the slide, resulting in lighter felt recoil then a normal Glock 17. The VDI slide comes with 3 spring weights: red plus 10% for +P ammo, yellow -10% for lighter loads, and green for normal ammo. I have used the green for 90% of the shooting. The pistol is just as accurate, maybe more so, than a standard Glock (although I haven’t bench shot it). These are just my observations from shooting 6-inch steel plates out to 20 yards or so. I had no problem doing it.
Now, with the Trijicon HD Night Sights on it, the pistol is super sweet to shoot. I would have no problem running it in a 3-Gun or USPSA pistol match, although it’s not production legal in USPSA. I wish it were, as I would run it!
It has become my favorite EDC [Every Day Carry] for when I want a full-size gun to carry.”
Well, that pretty much sums it up. Looks like the VDI Enforcer G17 slide, VDI non-threaded G17 barrel, and Grip Force Adapter modular extended beavertail grip tang are good to go.
Now, enjoy the video:
