While we're on the subject of 300 AAC Blackout (300BLK)/7.62x35mm tactical AR carbines/SBRs (Short Barreled Rifles), we should probably mention that Advanced Armament Corp. makes their own complete weapons and uppers. DefenseReview (DR) first fired the 300BLK at NDIA Infantry Small Arms Systems Symposium Range Day 2011 at the AAC booth, but the weapons we fired were just prototypes, and not an AAC production weapons. SHOT Show 2012 was our first opportunity to handle a production-ready AAC MPW (Multi-Purpose Weapon) tactical AR SBR, but for some reason we never published the video we shot. So, we're remedying that here (see video clips below).
Mike Smith of AAC showed us the new 300BLK AAC MPW weapons AND AAC SR7 fast-attach 7.62mm silencer/sound suppressor packages at SHOT. The gun Smith showed us sported a Knight's Armament Corp. (KAC) URX-3 free-float modular rail system/forend rail tube, a Geissele Automatics 2-stage trigger, a MagPul MOE-K Grip pistol grip and MagPul CTR Carbine Stock buttstock. AAC being famous for their excellent muzzle cans, all MPW weapons come suppressor ready. DR sees AAC's foray into 300BLK weapons is a logical progression. After all, they developed the 300 BLK cartridge, so why not also offer their own weapons/uppers, as well?
The AAC SR7 fast-attach suppressor / Blackout 51T/18T flash-hider system utilizes a 90-tooth ratchet latch fast-attach system (ratchet taper system).
The AAC MPW weapons package is available with 16”, 12.5” or 9” barrel, and has a current MSRP of $1,599.95 USD. We would assume that the MPW is available in both select-fire/full-auto and semi-auto-only configurations.
Here at Defense Review, we do like running cans on our weapons, so we're always on the lookout for new suppressor accessories, which we'll cover in an upcoming piece–so stay tuned.
