While the Geissele Automatics Super Select-Fire (SSF) Trigger, Super Semi-Automatic (SSA), Super Semi-Automatic (Enhanced) (SSA-E), and Super 3-Gun (S3G) two-stage AR-15 triggers were busy proving themselves in both military combat and competition environments, Geissele Automatics owner Bill Geissele wasn’t content to sit on his trigger-design laurels. Instead, he went about developing a corresponding group of straight/flat-bow 2-stage semi-auto AR triggers patterned after the M1911 pistol trigger called the “Super Dynamic Triggers“, which include the Super Dynamic-Combat (SD-C), Super Dynamic-Enhanced (SD-E) and Super Dynamic-3-Gun (SD-3G).
The Geissele Super Dynamic Triggers’ flat-trigger-bow configuration reduces the perceived pull-weight versus the corresponding SSF and SSA series standard (curved) triggers. Like the SSF and SSA-series triggers, the Super Dynamic (SD)–series triggers are rugged and non-adjustable “with a sear design that provides a wide margin of safety against unintentional discharges yet still gives the operator a sharp, repeatable trigger release,” which is obviously important for a combat trigger.
At 4.5 lbs, the Geissele Super Dynamic-Combat Trigger is specifically designed for CQB/CQC (Close Quarters Battle/Close Quarters Combat) gunfighting and Squad Designated Marksman (SDM) applications, but the 3.5-lb Super Dynamic-Enhanced Trigger would seem to be a bit more optimized for the SDM role. The 3.5-lb Super Dynamic-3-Gun Trigger combines a super-short trigger pull with super-short reset for achieving very fast multiple-target strings during competition, without making the trigger dangerously light. All three Geissele Automatics Super Dynamic Triggers are very close in price, with the most expensive (SD-3G) and least expensive (SD-C) being only $20 apart. The SD-series triggers are only a little bit more expensive than the corresponding SSA-series triggers, not prohibitively so.
We should perhaps note that DefenseReview (DR) writer/contributor Mike Pannone
mentioned Geissele Automatics triggers article on AR combat match triggers, and we’d recommend you read that very informative piece.
Defense Review hasn’t yet had a chance to run the Super Dynamic triggers to see how they compare in feel and performance to the SSA-series triggers, but we’ll try to get our hands on some ASAP for some T&E. We’ll also try to get some military assaulter/operator feedback from down range experience, if there is any. DR is curious as to how the Geissele SSA-series and SD-series up versus the JP Enterprises “JP Fire Control System” AR triggers. The JP triggers currently come in at $119.95 USD, making them significantly less expensive.
Geissele Automatics Super Dynamic Trigger Features (from company literature):
“- Super Dynamic Triggers incorporate a unique, flat trigger bow that is patterned after the trigger of a M1911 pistol
– The flat bow reduces the perceived pull weight and improves the trigger’s already outstanding tactile feedback
– All super dynamic triggers are rugged, non-adjustable combat triggers with a sear
– Design that provides a wide margin of safety against unintentional discharges, yet still gives the operator a sharp, repeatable trigger release
– Constructed of precision machined tool steel
– Combat trigger is built for extreme reliability and is ideally suited for CQB and designated marksman roles with a a 2.5lb 1st stage & a 2.0lb 2nd stage for a total of 4.5lb
– Enhanced has a slightly reduced 1st and 2nd stage pull weights, ideally suited for precision shooting with a 2.3lb 1st stage and a 1.2lb 2nd stage for a total of 3.5lb
– 3-gun has a shortened length of pull and quick reset with a 3.5lb total trigger pull weight
All Super Dynamic Triggers have a full power hammer spring”
Geissele Automatics Super Dynamic (SD) Triggers are currently available from both Brownells and Bravo Company USA/Bravo Company Manufacturing (BCM).

“GEISSELE AUTOMATICS SUPER DYNAMIC TRIGGERS
QUALITY TRIGGERS FOR THE WARFIGHTER AND COMPETITOR
SUPER DYNAMIC – COMBAT (SD-C) TRIGGER
SUPER DYNAMIC – ENHANCED (SD-E) TRIGGER
SUPER DYNAMIC – 3 GUN (SD-3G) TRIGGER
The Geissele Super Dynamic Triggers are the Super Dynamic – Combat (SD-C), Super Dynamic – Enhanced (SD-E) and the Super Dynamic – 3 Gun (SD-3G). These triggers are a unique semi-automatic variant of a trigger that Geissele makes for customers in the U.S. Special Operations Community. The Super Dynamic Triggers are rugged, non-adjustable combat triggers with a sear design that provides a wide margin of safety against unintentional discharges yet still gives the operator a sharp, repeatable trigger release. The exclusive, flat trigger bow, patterned after the trigger of an M1911 pistol, reduces the perceived pull weight of the triggers and gives outstanding tactile feedback and trigger control.
Super Dynamic – Combat Trigger
The Geissele Super Dynamic – Combat (SD-C) Trigger is a semi-auto only version of the select-fire trigger that Geissele makes for customers in the U.S. Special Operations community. The SD-C is a rugged, non-adjustable combat trigger with a sear design that provides a wide margin of safety against unintentional discharges yet still gives the operator a sharp, repeatable trigger release. The SD-C’s positive functioning and extreme reliability is ideally suited for weapons used in harsh, demanding environments such as Close Quarters Battle (CQB) and Squad
Designated Marksman (SDM) applications.
Retail Price: $220 [USD]
Super Dynamic – Enhanced Trigger
The Geissele Super Dynamic – Enhanced (SD-E) Trigger is a finely-tuned semi-automatic-only version of our fullauto, two stage combat trigger presently used in the U.S. Special Operations Community. Built on the chassis of the Geissele SSA, the SD-E provides enhanced trigger
control and weapon accuracy while maintaining the robustness and reliability of our combat-proven two-stage trigger. The SD-E’s reduced 1st and 2nd stage pull weights result in a trigger with a smooth, light 1st stage take-up and a crisp, candy cane-like 2nd stage break. The SD-E
is ideal for use in precision Squad Designated Marksman type rifles where weapon accuracy and reliability are critical and a non-adjustable drop in trigger is desired.
Retail Price: $235 [USD]
Super Dynamic – 3 Gun Trigger
The Geissele Super Dynamic – 3 Gun (SD-3G) trigger is a semi-automatic-only derivative of the two-stage Super Select-Fire (SSF) combat trigger that Geissele Automatics produces for customers in the U.S. Special Operations Community. The SD-3G was developed to combine the SSF combat trigger’s match-grade semi-automatic performance with its smooth single-stage
full-automatic feel to make a fast, smooth, and robust trigger ideal for 3 Gun competition shooting. The new Geissele Super Dynamic – 3 Gun trigger has a super short trigger pull and a short reset so that rounds can be sent downrange as quickly as possible while still maintaining
superb accuracy.
