Back in 2016, DefenseReview (DR) did a piece on the TNVC/Unity Tactical TAPS (Tactical Augmented Pressure Switch). Well, in late January of this year, TNVC/Unity Tactical’s Chip Lasky showed us the new Unity Tactical Hot Button – MLOK remote pressure switch at SHOT Show 2019. The Hot Button is is billed as a “revolutionary control device for weapon-mounted electronic accessories” that was developed “out of a need to conserve rail-estate, improve actuation ergonomics, and mechanically integrate with weapon fore ends, thus “successfully reinventing how you interface with your lights and lasers”. Not bad. Sounds pretty rad.
The Unity Tactical Hot Button – MLOK will attach directly to your M-LOK rail/tactical handguard, and theres also a version that’ll attach to your MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” rail. “Basically you’ve got a 45-degree-angle [remote pressure switch], which is a much more natural angle for pressing [on] the light [tactical white light],” said Lasky. We’re making this for Surefire, Streamlight, and standard Crane-style laser cables, so your PEQ-15 ATPIAL’s, DBAL, the BE Meyers MAWL, Wilcox RAID, all that kind of stuff,” Lasky added.
Lasky also told DR that they’ll also be releasing a dual-lead variant, “so you can plug it into your laser and your light. So, if you want them slaved together, so every time you press the Hot Button you get a visible laser and and your light, then that’s the one that you’re going to want to get.”
The Unity Tactical Hot Button – MLOK should be available as DR publishes this piece, so check with Unity Tactical for availability.
Defense Review would obviously like to have DR writer/contributor and chief new-product tester Jeff Gurwitch run a Hot Button-MLOK at the range, at some point in the not-too-distant future for a hands-on review. In the meantime, enjoy the video below.
