Military Special Operations Forces (SOF) sometimes need to take people and/or animals out real quiet-like. That's where suppressed weapons come in. Troy Defense builds one of these weapons using the Ruger Mark III .22LR pistol as a base gun and adding their own suppressor. They're calling it the Troy Defense Mark III Covert Approach Pistol, and it was shown at SHOT Show 2013.
The Troy Mark III Covert Approach Pistol is essentially a suppressed Ruger MkIII pistol with 21st-century features, including a Mil-Std-1913 "Picatinny" rail for mounting tactical lights and lasers. The gun is essentially a modern Hushpuppy-type anti-personnel/anti-K-9 (dog) pistol designed specifically for military Special Operations and clandestine ops–and the best part is the base pistol is proven over many years of production. Obviously, DefenseReview (DR) would really like to run one of these at the range. Suppressed .22LR pistols are always a lot of fun, especially since you don't even need hearing protection with subsonic ammo (Although we still advise our readers to wear hearing protection at all times on the range. Remember, there are probably other shooters out there, too!).
Although it's not apparent from demo pistol in the video, below, the CAP Mark III will also come with a top rail for mounting combat optics.
Once you have the gun, .22LR ammo is relatively cheap, no small thing considering current ammo prices. Speaking of ammo, CAP MkIII can handle high-velocity rounds and is reliable with subsonic ammo.
The Troy CAP MkIII suppressed .22LR pistol is available in coyote tan or black finish.
The following information on the pistol comes directly from the Troy Industries website:
"The utterly reliable and concealable Mark III pistol has evolved into the ultimate covert approach pistol by incorporating Troy’s™ new integrated sound suppressor and tactical features. While acting as a sound suppression device, the Troy™ suppressor also virtually eliminates flash for the perfect covert action pistol. The ability to use a variety of different ammunition from sub-sonic to hi-velocity hollow point, make the C.A.P Mark III the perfect stealth solution. The tactical MARK III C.A.P. features an Armored Reflex Reticle, and aggressive muzzle glass breaks.
