Patriot Ordnance Factory USA (POF-USA) just introduced their new PSG 9mm tactical AR (AR-15)-type semi-auto-only pistol/select-fire machine pistol/SMG (submachine gun) at the 2015 NRA Show (NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits) in Nashville, Tennessee. Well, POF-USA president/CEO Frank DeSomma initially sent DefenseReview (DR) two grainy photos of the PSG that look like they were shot with a flip-phone type cellphone circa 2004/2005, clandestinely smuggled out of the venue, and texted to us under durress while engaged in a high-speed chase (see bottom two photos underneath embedded video)…but we just received two new ones that are MUCH better (see photo at right and first/top photo below), which we appreciate. The photo at right shows just how much more compact the PSG is over the venerable HK MP5 SMG.
Anyway, according to DeSomma, the POF PSG 9mm semi-auto-only AR-type pistol/select-fire machine pistol takes 30-round Colt-type 9mm SMG box mags (or ‘stick’ mags) and higher-capacity mags that use the Colt 9mm mag format. That’s a solid choice. The weapon’s controls are standard AR-type ambi controls, including an ambi charging handle at the rear–another good choice. You can see all this in the (grainy) photos and POF’s PSG promo video below.
DR was told that the POF-USA PSG 9mm semi-auto pistol will accept a stabilizing brace being developed for it that’s similar in design/concept to the SIGTAC SB15 Pistol Stabilizing Brace, on which Defense Review has already reported. Once you set the gun up with this accessory/component, you now have a very viable home-defense weapon. Mil/LE end-users can of course attach a standard folding and/or telescoping stock, to turn it the PSG into a 9mm PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) for close quarters battle/close quarters combat (CQB/CQC).
Let’s just hope the PSG goes ‘BANG!” every time, and is combat-accurate. Knowing POF-USA AND Frank DeSomma it will, and will be. Mr. DeSomma just texted DR the following message: “I wouldn’t sell it if it didn’t go bang [every time].” He definitely stands behind his products. By the way, notice the Mission First Tactical MFT BATTLELINK Minimalist Stock attached to the PSG in the photo immediately below.
