CZ USA rep Zach Hein showed DefenseReview (DR) two very cool suppressor-ready combat/tactical pistols (with threaded barrels) that we really dug: the CZ P-10 C Suppressor-Ready striker-fired compact 9mm pistol with Urban Grey grip frame, and the Dan Wesson (DW) Wraith 9mm/.45 ACP/10mm Auto 1911 pistol with ghost grey (DR’s term for it) finish. DR’s already written about the P-10 C, which looks like a terrific little striker-fired pistol for those wanting to try something a little newer and different, so seeing a silencer/sound suppressor-ready variant of it was very welcome. And, since DR’s always been a fan of both 1911 pistols AND the 10mm Auot cartridge, we really enjoyed seeing the Wraith. It’s pretty wicked, and ready to take on big game OR big baddies.
The CZ P-10 C Suppressor Ready 9mm pistol’s a no-brainer. The only sticking point with us, of course, was our skepticism about the Wraith Suppressor-Ready 1911 pistol’s ability to handle full 10mm loads, but Mr. Hein assured us that the Wraith can handle them with aplomb, as you can see in the second/bottom video below. We shot that second video specifically because we knew that there might be some other skeptics out there as well.
By the way, it’s DR’s understanding that the DW Wraith 1911 pistol isn’t convertible between calibers, so you’ll have to pick one and stick with it, but our choice would be the 10mm, hands-down, due to the size of the gun, it’s ability to easily handle 10mm Auto ammo without destroying itself (again, according to Hein), and the 10mm Auto’s versatility as both a combat and hunting round. It also doesn’t hurt that Det. Sonny Crockett’s first gun was a 10mm Auto (Bren Ten).
Defense Review would very much like to have DR writer/contributor and chief new-product tester Jeff Gurwitch run both these pistols at the range for us. Hopefully, we can make that happen.
