DefenseReview (DR) has published a number of articles on FERFRANS Specialties SOAR (Special Operations Assault Rifle) series hard-use select-fire gas piston/op-rod (operating rod) and direct-gas-impingement (DGI) AR SBRs (AR-15 Short Barreled Rifles), carbines, and PDWs (Personal Defense Weapons) due to the fact that they rock. FERFRANS SOAR select-fire AR weapons are quality-manufactured from high-quality components and parts, and incorporate FERFRANS’ patented Rate Reduction System (RRS), which mechanically reduces the weapon’s cyclic rate of fire (ROF), bringing it down under the 700 rpm threshold (approximately 680 rpm), thus making the weapon more controllable during full-auto fire, without any adverse effect on weapon reliability, whatsoever.  In fact, the RRS also acts as an anti-bolt-bounce device, removing a potential cause of malfunctions in full-auto AR weapons.  And, the RRS has the added benefit of reducing felt recoil during semi-auto fire by approx. 20% (or more), by itself, without the use of a muzzle compensator/muzzle brake, according to the company.

The Adams Arms piston system is essentially a modular parts kit or component (or piston/op-rod module, if you will), as it can be integrated into any standard DGI AR-15 weapon. The only caveat is that it must be properly installed.

Anyway, Defense Review contributor Chen Lee (a.k.a. “SMGLee) recently got the opportunity to run a prototype Adams Arms select-fire/full-auto 7.62x39mm Russian AR SBR–or as Adams Arms representative Jim Granger likes to call it, their “leave-no-footprint gun (since it utilizes an indiginous Russian caliber)–with a FERFRANS RRS installed in it at the range while he was out doing some shooting with Ferdie Sy of FERFRANS Specialties and the boys from Falcon Security Group (FSG). The 30-shot 7.62x39mm AR (AR-15) magazine is made by C-Products.

Here’s the (short) video:

From the initial reports DR’s received on it, the gun’s a runner.
