When DefenseReview (DR) stopped by the Tactical Night Vision Company (TNVC) booth at SHOT Show 2014, they introduced us to Josh Grecco of Unity Tactical (UT), who proceed to show us sevveral interesting products, starting with the Unity Tactical ATOM Slide outfitted with a UT ATOM Adapter Plate. The UT ATOM Slide is an aftermarket Gen-3 Glock pistol slide system that comes in Glock 17 (G17), Glock 19 (G19), Glock 22 (G22) and/or Glock 23 (G23) config. It features a Type 3-anodized and melonited slide with modified rear BUIS (Back Up Iron Sight) that’s taller than a standard rear sight and mounted in front of the UT Adapter Plate and right behind the ejection port. The rear iron sight’s position and hight enable it to protect the mounted glass optic and co-witness with both it AND the raised front site BUIS. It would seem that the taller iron sights and red dot combat optic also make the pistol silencer/sound suppressor-compatible.
The UT ATOM Adater Plate is universal, in that allows the user to mount any mini red dot sight combat optic he/she wants, depending on the mission or competition. So, no longer will the end user be married to one specific combat optic. So, if yo want to go from a Leupold DeltaPoint Reflex Sight to a Trijicon RMR or Insight MRDS mini red dot sight, you can do so quickly and easily.
If you’ve got a Glock pistol that you would like to modify to accept the ATOM Adapter Plate, there are two gunsmiths that can currently do the requisite work on your slide: L&M Precision Gunworks and Robar Guns.
Or, you can just buy an ATOM Stripped Slide for your Glock pistol model direct from Unity Tactical for $439.95 USD, no muss, no fuss.
Interesting system.
