DefenseReview (DR) has been publishing information the SIG MCX select-fire, multi-caliber (5.56mm NATO/300BLK/7.62x39mm Russian) piston/op-rod (push-type operating rod) assault rifle/carbine/SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) family and SIG MPX select-fire, multi-caliber (9mm Parabellum/9x19mm NATO, .40 S&W, .357 SIG) submachine gun (SMG) family for awhile now, including the most recent variant of the MPX, the SIG MPX KeyMod machine pistol/SMG, which was introduced at NDIA SOFIC 2014. But, just last week, we got the oportunity to actually run both weapon systems at the SIG SAUER Academy range during the SIG SAUER New Media Writers’ Event, which was a lot of fun.
The three video clips below show SIG Sauer personnel describing the development background and raison d’etre (reason for being, or purpose of) the respective weapon systems.
