Speaking of cool new Geissele Automatics products at SHOT Show 2013, Bill Geissele was kind enough to show DefenseReview (DR) the Geissele Super Tricon Trigger, which is a semi-straight 2-stage trigger that was specifically designed by retired U.S. Navy SEAL Jeff Gonzalez of Trident Concepts for tactical shooting while wearing wet tactical shooting gloves.
DR has had some contact with Mr. Gonzalez, and we’ve always found him to be professional and knowledgeable, so we are interested in this product.
The Geissele Super Tricon Trigger utilizes a rough/striated anti-slip surface for the aforementioned wet tactical glove use, and the trigger-pull weight is approximately 4.5 lbs (2.5 lbs on first stage, and 2 lbs on second stage). So, if you’re looking for a good all-around combat trigger for you tactical AR, this new trigger is definitely worth a close look.

“The Super TRICON Trigger from Geissele Automatics is a nonadjustable combat trigger based off the proven SSA trigger. The Super TRICON is suitable for close quarters as well is midrange Carbine work. A short summary of the features and advantages follow:
The Super TRICON has a pull weight of about 4.5lb.; 2.5lb. on the first stage and 2lb. on the second stage. The pull weights and sear engagement are non adjustable by the shooter. The trigger bow is extended straight towards the bottom of the trigger by approximately 7° for greater leverage. The trigger surface is serrated to increase tactile feel and control as well as proper trigger finger placement.
Trigger and hammer are made from quality tool steel. Sear surfaces are cut by a wire EDM machine. Sears cut this way are very accurate and the non-directional surface finish of the wire EDM gives a smooth trigger pull without the associated grittiness of directional machining marks left by a milling cutter. The initial force needed to start the disengagement of the sear surfaces is low and the force linearly increases at a low rate. This helps the shot to fall at the initial point of aim and aids in building shooter confidence in his weapons ability to put the rounds where his sight is pointing. The Geissele SSA trigger allows the shooter to slap through the trigger pull on close in shots but also set up a long range shot with a crisp trigger break.
A full force hammer spring is used for quick locktime and positive ignition of all types of ammo. No lightened hammer spring is used. The hammer is lighter than a standard AR15 hammer. The lightened hammer favorably decreases locktime and increases accuracy of the weapon, especially for snap shots.”
