SIG 552 Commando Mini-Assault Rifle for Special Operations.

SIG seems to have a little winner with their 552 Commando(the rifle’s full numeric designation is actually 552-2P). Just like all the other mini-assault rifles out there, the SIG 552 is designed for use in tight spots by special operators and air crew members. *Click on "Read More" below for the rest of the story.*

What separates the SIG 552 from the rest of the competition is the engineered elegance of this little piece of lethal equipment. A number of very knowledgeable people in the small arms field have comented to the author that the SIG 550 series rifles(all in 5.56mm) are probably the most beautifully engineered examples in their class. Swiss workanship at its finest, and all that.

The SIG 552 Commando should prove a welcome addition to any team’s arsenal. Barrel length is 8.9". The 552 is therefore best used with some form of suppression or moderating device to reduce both noise and flash, particularly if the weapon is employed indoors. DefRev seriously hopes to acquire one of these little honeys for a thorough T&E sometime in the not-too-distant future.
