Speaking of 7.62mm NATO/.308 Win. battle rifles, Patriot Ordnance Factory, Inc. (POF USA) had their new P-308 (a.k.a. P308) battle rifle/carbine on display at their booth. The P-308 utilizes the same FN FAL-type gas piston/op-rod operating system as the P-415/16 (a.k.a. P415/16) 5.56x45mm NATO (5.56mm NATO)/.223 Rem. assault rifle/carbine.
The P-308 battle rifle’s barrel and barrel extension feature a…
"deep nitride heat treatment", which penetrates the barrel steel to a depth of 3-5 thousandths of an inch and case hardens the barrel to a surface hardness of Rockwell 68-72.
The POF P-308 battle rifle/carbine looks good and handles well, but we haven’t shot it, yet. Noted gunwriter Charlie Cutshaw has, though, and you can read about the P308’s performance in his recent article on the new weapon for Guns & Weapons for Law Enforcement (GWLE).
We really want to shoot this gun.
