Speaking of Otte Gear products, Otte Gear also introduced their waterproof, breathable Patrol Trouser at SHOT Show 2014, and showed it to DefenseReview (DR). The Otte Gear Patrol Trouser over-pant (combat/tactical pant) for adverse combat conditions utilizes an eVent laminate inner layer with an APECS fabric outer layer, just like the Otte Gear Patrol Parka, giving the operator/wearer a complete breathable waterproof system that’s also soft, quiet and comfortable.

The Otte Gear Patrol Trouser sports a built-in belt, pull-cord fly zipper, detachable suspenders, full side-zips (zippers) on the hips/legs for ventilation during aerobic activity, and so you can get into your primary tactical/combat pant’s pockets inside. The side zippers are dual-direction, so they also unzip from the bottom. So, you can put the OG Patrol Trouser on, and take it off, without removing your boots. Watch the embedded video below to see how all this works. The Patrol Trouser even features some adjustable-closure snaps at the bottom, so you can cinch the pants a bit around your boots.

An important design aspect of the Otte Gear Patrol Trouser is the suspenders’ placement on the front of the pant, so when nature calls in the rear, you can unzip the pants on both sides from the top, down, fully exposing your backside, negating the need to undue the suspenders and pull the pants down completely. Again, the video below shows how this works.

DR was very impressed with the design of this pant, just as we have been with all previous Otte Gear products we’ve seen (and worn).

Editor’s Note: The OG Patrol Trouser Defense Review saw was either the Desert Tan or Flat Dark Earth (FDE) version (we’re not sure which), but the pant is also available in Ranger Green, Black and Crye MultiCam camo (camouflage) pattern.
