Advanced Armament Corp. (A.A.C.) had a large assortment of silencers / sound suppressors (a.k.a. "muzzle cans") for tactical firearms (a.k.a. tactical small arms a.k.a. tactical weapons) for 2007, including models from their Blackout silencer line.

The first muzzle can Defense Review was shown is their lightweight (approx. 15 oz) 5.56x45mm NATO/.223 Rem. (5.56mm NATO) fast-attach muzzle can for the FN SCAR-Light (SCAR-L a.k.a. Mk.16) assault rifle/carbine/subcarbine/SBR (Short-Barreled Rifle) marketed by FNH USA. We’re not sure whether or not this is the same can as the AAC SCAR-SD can, but we’ll find out.

Anyway, this suppressor features an…

all-welded design and utilizes 316 Stainless and Inconel (high nickel alloy content) so it can handle high-heat and pressure caused by full-auto fire and high round count. The can attaches and detaches in 1.5 (1 1/2) complete revolutions. AAC’s flash-hider/fast-attach module also incorporates Inconel for long service life (as long as the barrel) and utilizes a spring latch as a secondary retainer for the can. This was a military requirement.

The AAC Blackout Scar-H-SD Rifle Silencer is a 7.62x51mm NATO /.308 Win. (7.62mm NATO) fast-attach silencer / sound suppressor that was designed specifically for the FN SCAR-Heavy (SCAR-H a.k.a. Mk.17) battle rifle/carbine/subcarbine/SBR (Short-Barreled Rifle). This muzzle can utilizes the AAC’s proprietary M.I.T.E.R. (Multi-Indexing for Targeting at Extended Range) System.

The AAC Black Box Pistol Silencer ("Eccentric Design" .45 silencer) for .45 ACP pistols, including, but not necessarily limited to, the HK45 and HK45 Compact (HK45C) .45-caliber pistols and SIGARMS SIG-SAUER P220-series pistols. The Black Box silencer / sound suppressor is, according to the company, currently the quietest .45-caliber can in existence, and one of only two hearing-safe .45-Cal. silencer / muzzle cans in the world. It uses a single-piece internal slant-baffle module, as well as a collet system that allows you to orient the can the correct way every time on any handgun / pistol to which it’s attached.

AAC’s new .22-caliber (.22LR) Prodigy fast-attach can (for pistols) also utilizes an internal single-piece slant-baffle module that allows for easy cleaning every 200-250 rounds (recommended maintenance). When you want to pull the silencer off, you just line up the two white dots, and pull.

The AAC Blackout SPR/M4 Rifle Silencer for AR-15/M16-variant direct-gas-impingement weapons, including the SOPMOD M4/M4A1 Carbine, SOPMOD M4 CQBR Subcarbine/SBR-type (like the excellent M16 Viper and M16 Viper-XRP SBRs made by M16 Clinic, for example), and SPR (Special Purpose Rifle) is designed for a high volume of fire. It incorporates a large gas-expansion chamber which minimizes and virtually eliminates gas blowback.

The SPR/M4 Rifle Silencer negates the need for a PRI Gas-Buster Charging Handle / Big Latch, which would normally be required for a direct-gas-impingement rifle outfitted with a silencer.

DefenseReview would like to specifically thank Mark Kuczka (Mark J. Kuczka) of Polite Society, Inc. (an AAC dealer) for doing such an excellent job in taking us through all the new-for-2007 cans at the Advanced Armament Corp. (AAC) booth. Mark was, hands down, one of the coolest guys we met at the show. Awesome individual.
