While DefenseReview (DR) was at SHOT Show 2012, we came across the DKX Advanced Manufacturing booth and got a quick look at the DKX MAX III lightweight, multi-hit/drop-resistant “floaty armor” (DR’s tongue-in-cheek term for floating armor) plates, which are positively-buoyant thanks to their DSM Dyneema fiber construction. NIJ Level III hard armor plates. The DKX MAX III plates’ polyethylene fiber (Dyneema) construction is what gives them their multi-hit/drop-resistant qualities, and why you don’t have to X-Ray them like you would with ceramic armor plates.
According to Evan Anderson of DKX, the company is currently developing DKX MAX IV NIJ Level IV anti-rifle armor plates.
The DKX floating hard armor (tactical body armor) product might be a good fit with London Bridge Trading Company Ltd.’s (LBT) maritime tactical armor plate carrier.
