As if the new BATTLEARMS OIP Gen-2 ultra-light 5.56mm AR carbine weren’t cool enough by itself, Battle Arms Development (BAD) also showed DefenseReview (DR) what looked like a prototype version of one of their new BAD PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine) combat/tactical carbines with ambi (ambidextrous) controls (some of them titanium), including their new ambi charging handle called the RACK Charging Handle AR15, at SHOT Show 2019. DR actually shot a video on the BAD RACK ambi charging handle at SHOT Show 2018, but never published it…until now (see below). It’s pretty cool.
Anyway, one of the most interesting things about the BAD 9mm PCC carbine and PDW packages are their utilization of standard Glock 9mm pistol mags (magazines), but the 33-round G18 (Glock 18) mag would be DR’s mag of choice in the weapons.
It should be noted that the 9mm Parabellum/9x19mm NATO cartridge is a different animal out of a carbine-length barrel, as it develops significantly more velocity and exhibits superior penetration on hardened targets, particularly if you use +P or +P+ FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) carbine ammo. And, 9mm +P and +P+ JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) out of a 9mm carbine will pack a hell of a whallop against soft targets.
The BAD 9mm PCC looks like a really nice little carbine package for home defense (especially with the telescoping/retractable buttstock variants, and a fun plinker for the range. The BAD PCC comes in four (4) variants: BATTLEARMS™ BAD-GS-002 9mm PCC Rifle, BATTLEARMS™ BAD-GS-003 9MM PCC Rifle, BATTLEARMS™ BAD-GS-004 9MM PCC Sonic Blue/Silver Rifle, and BATTLEARMS 9MM PDW PCC 8″ BARREL. That last one (8″ PDW) is particularly cool. DR really digs that one.
