DefenseReview made a point of visiting the Vltor Weapon Systems booth at SHOT Show 2009 specifically to view and handle an actual Fortis functional prototype pistol a.k.a. modernized and improved Bren Ten pistol, and our visit was even more successful than we thought it would be. Understand that at SHOT Show 2008, the only thing we’d gotten to handle was a very non-functional "Finite Element Analysis"-phase Fortis pistol prototype mockup.

Well, what a difference a year makes. Not only did Vltor have both standard and compact (functional prototype) versions of the Fortis, but they had both 10mm and .45ACP caliber versions of the pistol! That’s right, standard AND compact versions in 10mm AND .45 ACP!! We were stunned–pleasantly stunned, but stunned.
