Taser International is about to introduce their new Taser X26. The new offering will utilize a technology the company calls "shaped pulse technology".
Apparently, the new Taser X26 is 60% smaller and lighter than the company’s current top of the line Taser, the Taser M26. The Taser X26 will be formally unveiled on May 30, 2003.
The market for less-lethal technology for LE and military users appears to be…
constantly increasing. Police departments especially seem to like the idea of being able to gain control over suspects/subjects without having to use lethal force to do so. Military forces engaged in peacekeeping operations around the world are also on the look-out for new weapons in this category. The new Taser X26 should do well in meeting this demand, provided it lives up to its billing. Judging by the effectiveness of their M26, which the author has witnessed in demonstrations(TREXPO 2001 and SHOT Show 2002), the new X26 is most likely going to be well received.
