The following is a Robotic FX, Inc. press release that has been slightly edited for content by DefenseReview:

Worth, IL – (June 6, 2007) Robotic FX, Inc. has announced the release of the latest Negotiator Tactical Surveillance Robot (NTSR) accessory, a 6-Axis robotic arm (transforming the NTSR into the Negotiator Tactical Manipulator Robot a.k.a. NTMR). “This [6-Axis] arm will revolutionize the way bomb disposal technicians, police officers, and first response personnel perform their duties”, said Jameel Ahed, President and Chief Design Engineer for Robotic FX, Inc.

The original Negotiator Tactical Surveillance Robot, a low cost, easy-to-use, highly versatile robotic system, was designed to help first-responders perform their duties while remaining at a safe distance. The 6-axis arm further extends the Negotiator robot’s capabilities by allowing it to…

perform tasks such as opening doors, lifting, carrying, and delivering small objects, explosive ordinance disposal, and detailed inspections with unparalleled efficiency and precision.

In keeping with Robotic FX, Inc.’s philosophy of “easy-to-use” products that require little to no training, the 6-axis arm’s intuitive operation is no exception. “The biggest problem that I have found with almost all other robots on the market is that they require literally weeks of training to learn how to operate them.” “The design and operation of the Negotiator tactical robot’s arm was inspired by the Da Vinci machine [a robotic system designed to enhance a surgeons’ capability and ultimately perform surgery more safely], which actually utilizes the natural functions of the human hand.” “As a result, we have developed a system that allows the operator to focus on the dangerous task at hand rather than worrying about flipping the wrong switch or pushing the wrong button,” said Mr. Ahed.

While official pricing for the Negotiator Tactical Manipulator Robot (Negotiator Tactical Surveillance Robot with the 6-Axis arm accessory) has yet to be determined, initial estimates indicate a cost of approximately one-third of its closest competitor. “As I have said in the past, the goal of Robotic FX, Inc. has always been to provide high quality, affordable products that ultimately help save lives. This new accessory is no exception,” said Mr. Ahed.

The Negotiator Tactical Surveillance Robot is currently used by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and has had proven success with search & rescue operations, SWAT teams, HAZMAT teams and Homeland Defense. For more information, please visit our new website at
