Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The mad(or should I say "Mad Dog"?) scientists over at MD Labs have just come out with their custom "Operator" single-stack 1911. The "Operator" is one of their "Hard Use" custom offerings. Basically, the goal behind this gun is to provide the end user with a single-stack 1911 that’s as close to indestructable as possible. To do this, Kevin McClung and Steve Morrison perform all custom work with reliability and durability under harsh field conditions as the top priority.

Accordingly, they choose the highest quality and most durable components they’ve been able to find, including Doug Koenig hammer/sear kits, STI carbon fiber triggers, and their own MD Labs super-tough GunGrips, which are made out of the same material as their knife handles. These grips are basically impervious to heat and moisture, are much more impact resistant than wood, and electrically inert.

By the way, if any of our readers have a couple of extra bucks eating a hole in their pockets and are interested in obtaining an MD Labs "Operator" Hard Use 1911 single-stack, DefRev(that’s short for "Defense Review" for you newbies), will see if we can get our members a special price. Just shoot an email to david@defensereview.com, and your humble editor-in-chief will contact the MD Labs boys on your behalf. If we get enough people, we should be able to make it happen.
