DefenseReview has been waiting for a white paper on, and LRIP (Low-Rate Initial Production) photos of, the Land Warfare Resources Corporation (LWRC) open-bolt full-auto, closed-bolt semi-auto Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR) candidate weapon since July 31, 2007, when we received the following message (in italics) from Darren Mellors, Vice President of Business Development at LWRC:

From: Darren Mellors
Date: Jul 31, 2007 8:45 AM
Subject: Re: Follow up…
To: David Crane

David, I am finishing the white paper on the IAR which is what I intend on
sending you. The first LRIPS should be assembled for the USMC by next week
and I want to get photo’s of those for you so you have the "first look." I
do not want to do this half assed. I want you to have comprehensive
information and pictures. The RFP is due any day, some here are [redacted] of the rifle before submission. I do not
think it is an issue and neither does the [redacted].

Well we just spoke with Mr. Mellors, and it looks like we’ll be receiving the requested materials, pronto. We’ll get those materials up on the site as soon as we can. Defense Review will be…

meeting up with Mr. Mellors and Jesse Gomez at the LWRC booth at SHOT Show 2008.

Editor’s Note: Defense Review readers may remember that we published information last year on the prototype
8-inch (8")-barreled LWRC PSD (Personal Security Detail) 6.8x43mm SPC
(6.8 SPC) SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) / subcarbine
, which is essentially a 6.8mm SPC version of the LWRC M6A2 CQB
5.56x45mm NATO (5.56mm NATO)/.223 Rem. subcarbine/SBR. We’re going to try to test the LWRC PSD at the range at SHOT Show 2008.
