It looks like George Smith, owner and head gunsmith at Evolution Gun Works, has been busy over there. Long known for their competition race guns, EGW is now throwing their hat into the tactical/carry ring with a couple of new custom 5" single-stacks. These are EGW’s new "Tactical Carry Gun Package" and PDP Model. Basically both are fairly straight-laced custom single-stack 1911’s with a couple of the usual goodies on them, like Novak sights and EGW straight-face "E" trigger. The manual safety on each appears to be single-sided.
Both can be chambered in 9×23, for those who want a gun that carries 11 rounds of .357 magnum-equivalent rounds. If anything, the 9×23’s ballistics out of a 5" 1911 tube are superior to the .357 magnum out of a 4" revolver, and you get almost double the round count in the weapon.
