DefenseReview recently reported on ArmaLite’s foray into tactical pistols. Before that, back in April (2006), we had briefly mentioned the ArmaLite Super SASS (Semiautomatic Sniper System) AR-10-based .308 Win./7.62x51mm NATO semi-auto tactical rifle in our article titled DefRev Quick Hits 4 from SHOT Show 2006: More Tactical Goodies. Well, Guns & Weapons for Law Enforcement (GWLE) has just published an article on the ArmaLite Super SASS rifle in their November 2006 issue.

The article was written by Charlie Cutshaw (Charles Cutshaw), and is worth reading. DefenseReview got to…

view and handle the Super SASS at ArmaLite’s booth at SHOT Show 2006 in Las Vegas. The weapon looked to be well-executed, but we have not yet had a chance to test it at the range. Mr. Cutshaw, however, did, and reported that "the Super SASS performed without incident and delivered satisfactory accuracy." Cutshaw’s test Super Sass "delivered accuracy as good as most other semiautomatic match grade rifles [he/they] have tested and better than some". Mr. Cutshaw goes on to write,…

"The bottom line is this version of ArmaLite’s AR-10 is designed for use by tactical teams and precision tactical marksmen. The big AR has features that will appeal to any tactidal team or individual seeking a semiautomatic precision tactical rifle. It is accurate, reliable and rugged."

Defense Review will try to obtain video footage of the ArmaLite Super SASS tactical rifle being put through its paces at the range.

In the meantime, if you’d like to get more info on the Super SASS, you can contact ArmaLite, Inc. by phone at 309-944-6939 or toll free at 800-336-0184, by fax at 309-944-6949, or by email at sales@armalite.com.
