DefenseReview's (DR) friend and professional contact Aaron Cohen has sent us a very cool sizzle trailer for his new short film titled Overwatch. Now based out of Los Angeles, Cohen's a retired Israeli Special Operations Forces (SOF) assaulter/operator.
Cohen wrote, directed and co-stars in the film, along with Tony Nevada, another special ops veteran (U.S. Marine Corps), and describes Overwatch as a "powerful 32 minute short war drama that focuses on PTSD and the high emotional price paid by our special operations soldiers to carry our nations most complex and dangerous missions," and from the trailer, it definitely looks like a film worth seeing.
A few years ago, Defense Review published a heads-up piece on Cohen's book Brotherhood of Warriors about his personal journey and time inside Sayeret Duvdevan, or "Duvdevan Unit", a unit with a unique and very interesting mission profile.
A few years before that, DR had the opportunity to train with Cohen in Israeli anti-terrorism/counterterrorism tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP) under the auspices of his training company IMS Counter-Terrorism School/Security 360. We enjoyed the experience and learned a lot from it. "IMS" stands for "Israeli Military Specialists".
The following is the film's (Overwatch) plotline:
A covert special ops team defends a platoon of pinned down Navy SEALs. As the danger escalates, the emotional price paid by professional warriors is exposed.
Overwatch is an intimate look into post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the affects it has on our top special operations soldiers and the emotional price that's paid to carry out our nations most complex and dangerous missions.
