DefenseReview (DR) really likes this company. Actually, we really like cool tactical/combat survival gadgets/accoutrements, especially when they can save your life and generally make life more pleasant when you’re runnin’ and gunnin’ dowrange–and McNett Corporation is the king of tactical/combat survival accessories/gear. DR was recently given three sample items at the 2011 Special Operations Forces Infantry Conference (SOFIC 2011) and NDIA Infantry Small Arms Systems Symposium 2011, respectively: the McNett Tactical Aquamira Frontier Pro Ultralight Water Filter System (Military Version), Aquamira Water Purifier Tablets (Tactical/Military Version), and Outgo Ultra-Compact Microfiber Towel (Tactical/Military Version).
The McNett Tactical Aquamira Frontier Pro™ Ultralight Water Filter System is a very cool little piece of kit. It’s essentially a microfilter that will filter a number of those little nasties that can make you sick in the wild, including Giardia, Cryptosporidium and E. Coli. You can attach it to either your CamelBak hydration bladder system via the Universal Quick Connect (UQC) adapter, or to a standard water bottle. It consists of a Bite Me valve, “porous plastic” filter with Miraguard ™ technology, pre-filter (replacement filters included in package), universal 28mm thread adapter, and tube adapter (draw tube included). Miraguard ™ Antimicrobial Technology “suppresses the growth of bacteria, algae, fungus, mold and mildew within the filter media. Miraguard™ does not protect users against food borne or disease causing bacteria, viruses, germs or other disease causing organisms.” The Frontier Pro will filter up to 50 gallons of water.
Defense Review was also given some McNett Tactical Aquamira Water Purifier Tablets that will essentially do the same thing as a Frontier Pro via a different mechanism. The tablets contain a powerful germicidal agent called Chlorine Dioxide that basically kills a whole bunch of little nasties (bacteria, viruses, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium) in your water. You just drop them into a liter of water like Alka-Seltzer tablets, or, perhaps more appropriately, Camelbak Elixir Eltectrolyte Enhanced Hydration tabs (tablets), and safely drink your water. In fact, DR isn’t aware of any reason why you can’t use the Aquamira Water Purifier Tabs and CamelBak Elixir Tabs (for some flavor and electrolytes) together.
The last item we received was a McNett Tactical Outgo Micronet Ultra-Compact Microfiber Towel (Military Style), which is a soft, comfy, handy compact and lightweight towel that utilizes a high-density microfiber weave. It can operate as a medical towel, blanket, bandana, cleaning cloth, sling or wrap. and the package includes a deluxe wet/dry bag with 2 zippered compartments. Designed for mobility and easy packing, the higly-absorbent/quick-drying Outgo Micronet Ultra-Compact Microfiber Towel creates a much smaller footprint than standard cotton towels. It’s easy to clean, too, since it’s machine or hand washable.
All of the above McNett Tactical combat survival accessories appear to be well thought out and of high quality, and DefenseReview plans to run them at the range, soon. Oh, and they look good, too. So, check ’em out.
