DefenseReview recently received a Low Profile Package Advanced Helmet Cam System (helmet camera system) from Xtreme Recall, and we’re looking forward to evaluating it. The Low Profile Package was designed and developed to allow professional shooters, tactical operators (including military Special Operations and general infantry personnel, and law enforcement SWAT operators) and professional paintballers and Airsofters to record training sessions and missions/operations for after-action analysis.
We first became aware of Xtreme Recall and it’s state-of-the-art helmet-cam tech at SHOT Show 2006 in Las Vegas, when we ran into Sargon Koda at the Steyr USA booth. Sargon was wearing an earlier model unit. While the latest systems utilize…
modified Camelbak systems to house the requisite camcorder or PVR, Sargon was carrying his camcorder in a standard backpack, and he mounted the micro-camera element on his shoulder.
The Xtreme Recall Low Profile Package utilizes the military-version Camelbak Stealth, specifically, due to its low-profile configuration and the fact that it allows a "high range of movement". Regarding accessories, "this package includes the highest resolution micro-camera technically possible today, independently positional stereophonic microphones that offer simply superb audio recording quality and a 3rd Gen ultra lite-weight cable system that requires no heavy adapters for connection to your recorder – including new Sony Camcorder models."
Defense Review will be publishing a follow-up article once we’ve had a chance to put the Xtreme Recall Low Profile Package Advanced Helmet Cam System through it paces, so stay tuned. In the meantime, if you’re on a tactical team or professional paintball or Airsoft team, we would highly recommend that you check out the company’s website at www.xtremerecall.com.
