Brite Strike Technologies, Inc. (BSTI), maker of “tactical illumination products” like the Tactical Blue Dot series tactical flashlights a.k.a. tactical white lights Tactical Blue Dot remote pressure switches, Tactical Balls (no jokes, please), Baton Integrated Light (BIL) Flexaton expandable batons, and the TOC-100 Wireless Tactical Observation Camera displayed a new stick-on tactical light product called the “All Purpose Adhesive Light Strip”, or “APALS” for short.

In fact, APALS is so new that DefenseReview couldn’t even find it on Brite Strike’s website, nor anywhere else on the web, for that matter. So, why does a little thing like the APALS tactical light strip matter enough to write about?  Because DR contributor Jeff Gurwitch thought it was cool and interesting enough to mention it and send us an electronic copy of the APALS data sheet. It’s Defense Review’s understanding that Jeff found APALS at either the IDGA Soldier Equipment & Technology Expo & Conference 2010 or SOFEX 10 (Special Operations Forces Symposium and EXhibition 2010).

Sold in packs of 100 units, APALS is essentially a small, thin, lightweight, and waterproof stick-on tactical light strip that you can stick on virtually any surface (wet or dry), including yourself (clothing), while your runnin’ and gunnin’ in an urban warfare environment or any other relevant tactical environment. They can be used to light rooms, and mark objects, locations, yourself, and enemy targets.

All Purpose Adhesive Light Strip (APALS) Specs/High Points from the APALS Data Sheet/Fact Sheet:

– Can be seen from up to 1/4 mile (.25 miles) away.
– Run time “up to” 35 hours.
– Operating Modes: Constant On / Fast Strobe / Slow Strobe / Off
– Heavy Duty Adhesive Back holds tight to any surface wet or dry
– Waterproof and Dust Proof
– Pack of 100 fits easily in a BDU pocket and weighs around 12 oz (12 ounces).

Visible-light APALS tactical light strips are available in white, green, red, yellow, and blue colors. A “True IR” (True Infrared) version APALS is also available for discreetly marking objects/locations and targets with a tactical IR strobe light, or discreetly lighting a room for night vision-equiped infantry forces.
