The precision takedown rifle has taken on near mythic dimensions in the popular media for many decades. The reality more than not, has been that these weapons are generally highly fragile and rather inaccurate over the long term for obvious reasons. In any event, they have never been inexpensive due to the inherent complexities involved in designing and manufacturing and the relatively low numbers produced. Nonetheless, the market requirement for a precision rifle, capable of being quickly assembled and then disassembled into a compact package continues unabated to this day. In practical terms, the market for the TTR-700 is readily apparent for military parachutists; special operators; SWAT teams; aircrew members/bush pilots, and even deep woods back packers. All such individuals have at one time or another, longed for a highly compact yet robust and precise takedown rifle design. For SOF and SWAT personnel specifically, the desirability of a highly effective and complete sniper system that can be discretely carried in what appears to be a normal laptop case is self-evident. From discrete carry bag to first round down range a trained sniper can deploy the TTR-700 within 30-60 seconds. TTR-700 ACTION. With considerable experience in developing and producing precision bolt action and gas operated sniper rifles since 1986, Arms Tech LTD has applied a wealth of experience into the development of the TTR-700 weapon system. The 700 action has been extensively modified and blueprinted for utmost reliability and accuracy. Further the tolerances on the proprietary barrel interface system is such that the TTR-700 is absolutely guaranteed to return to zero after removing and reinstalling the barrel an operation that is done entirely by hand without the aid of any tools whatsoever. The barrel installation and removal process takes only as long as it takes the sniper to unscrew the unit from the host weapon. The special threading ensures that the barrel will not unscrew inadvertently under combat conditions. OPTIMIZED FOR SUPPRESSED OPERATION. The employment of such a diminutive weapon as the TDR-700 mandates the use of a highly efficient sound and flash suppressor. Due the short overall dimensions of the TTR-700, the weapon comes standard with a threaded barrel and false muzzle protector to facilitate the employment of the optional AT LTD MD-30S Sound and Flash Suppressor, as recently supplied to the US government. This newest variant of the venerable MD-30 suppressor, already adopted by a US agency, now is manufactured from entirely stainless steels. The outer tube is now made from 304 stainless and the internal components are manufactured from 17-4 tool steel. This combination of materials ensures an extremely long service life for the diminutive MD-30S. It must be stressed that with the standard barrel the MD-30S should be thought of as an integral component of the TTR-700 system. However, this suppressor is only available to official agencies and other qualified consumers. OPTIONS EQUIPMENT AND SPECIFICATIONS. PARACHUTE BAG. Since the TTR-700 was principally designed for use by SOF and light infantry units, a special jump bag was designed to contain the entire weapon system in a in a secure and rugged outer case that could be suspended under the reserve parachute or inside the rucksack. This optional reinforced and floatable (although not waterproof) case, like the TTR-700 itself, directly addresses the often-cited weapons reliability and safety issues associated with snipers involved in airborne operations. A special separate reinforced transport bag is available for longer barrels. OPERATIONAL SAMSONITE ATTACHE HARD CASE. Available through special order only, a custom-fitted Samsonite attach case is also available. CALIBER AND BARREL CHOICES. The TTR-700 weapon system is normally supplied with a 17, 7.62mm NATO (.308 Winchester). Upon request, the weapon can be built in virtually any caliber appropriate for the short action Remington 700 receiver design, such as the .338 Whisper. The high humidity variant is available in a bead blast or chrome sulfide finish, per Mil-C-13924B. ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION.
